Spring Performance!!
Students have started
learning some choreography for the spring performance of “Thumbelina”.
Memorizing movements, steps, rhythms, music and how to move with others is
an integral part of dance. Studies show that movement and music can
increase a child’s reading and math skills (Mozart Effect et.al.)!! It is
vitally important that your child comes to each class, even if they are
unable to participate due to an injury. One of our hip hop students is in a
boot due a major sprained ankle while BMX-ing, but, has not missed a class.
Even though he is unable to physically participate he is getting the benefit
of seeing, hearing and memorizing steps for the forthcoming performance.
Students will continue to
work on new steps in preparation for our Performance
June 19, 2010, “Thumbelina”. We have
adapted the original story (Hans Christian Anderson, 1835), and expanding it
to encompass all dance disciplines and voice.
All students’ accounts must be current (that includes any
unpaid late fees) and performance fees are due now.
A great big Thank You to
Mark Geyer and David Scarbeary for volunteering to help with building the
sets and to Charlie Greenberg who will help with designing. Charlie is a
Stage Craft major at DSA.
^^^We also need parent
volunteers, please email us to help with the following:
·
Bake/ticket sales, 2-3 people
·
Dressing room, 2-3 people to assist teachers with students
·
Back stage, 1-2 people to assist stage manager with entry and exit of
students.
